The producing/programming team of NintendoAge’s neodolphino and Vectrex28 are at it again with a port of the classic Windows game Freecell, with Zi creating a jazzy soundtrack and a pretty wild game teaser/trailer.

The composition process is always different when working on a game and changes as the developers progress. Songs are added, extended, removed, moved to areas that otherwise didn’t need music, but the core remains the same: build off of decades of studying and practicing music, sit down and noodle. A lot of what comes out seems like magic, but there’s a deep nerdy well of musical theory that dictates how those underlying chords coalesce. Here’s how the main tracks sounded when Zi plays them on the piano (with yelling kids and all):
